is there a message here?

Just think about this for a second: Did you ever see anyone arrested wearing a
Bush T-shirt? Or for you older guys, an Eisenhower, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan
or even Nixon, or Bob Dole shirt.

There MUST be a message here, but I can't quite grasp it, or maybe I am afraid to.

The Indian and the bull

An Indian walks into a cafe with a shotgun in one hand pulling a male buffalo with the other. He says to the waiter: 'Want coffee.

The waiter says, 'Sure, Chief. Coming right up.'

He gets the Indian a tall mug of coffee.

The Indian drinks the coffee down in one gulp, turns and blasts the buffalo with the shotgun, causing parts of the animal to splatter everywhere and then just walks out.

The next morning the Indian returns.

He has his shotgun in one hand, pulling another male buffalo with the other. He walks up to the counter and says to the waiter 'Want coffee.'

The waiter says 'Whoa, Tonto!

We're still cleaning up your mess from yesterday. What was all that about, anyway?'

The Indian smiles and proudly says ..

'Training for position in United States Congress:

Come in, drink coffee, shoot the bull, Leave mess for others to clean up, disappear for rest of day..

Here's his agenda...something to examine and read carefully

A blog I enjoy reading for her wisdom and knowledge is this lady. She's a wealth of knowledge. The woman has 10 children with one of them being a newborn! She had his post on her blog recently.

Obama acts quickly, lays out his abortion and gay agenda

Add the abortion ticker to your blog or site.

One of first moves pushes social issues to the top

Supporting Stem Cell Research: President Obama and Vice President Biden believe that we owe it to the American public to explore the potential of stem cells to treat the millions of people suffering from debilitating and life-threatening diseases. Obama is a co-sponsor of the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act of 2007, which will allow research of human embryonic stem cells derived from embryos donated (with consent) from in vitro fertilization clinics. These embryos must be deemed in excess and created based solely for the purpose of fertility treatment.
Reproductive Choice (Abortion)
Supports a Woman's Right to Choose: President Obama understands that abortion is a divisive issue, and respects those who disagree with him. However, he has been a consistent champion of reproductive choice and will make preserving women's rights under Roe v. Wade a priority in his Adminstration. He opposes any constitutional amendment to overturn the Supreme Court's decision in that case.
Preventing Unintended Pregnancy: President Obama was an original co-sponsor of legislation to expand access to contraception, health information, and preventive services to help reduce unintended pregnancies. Introduced in January 2007, the Prevention First Act will increase funding for family planning and comprehensive sex education that teaches both abstinence and safe sex methods. The Act will also end insurance discrimination against contraception, improve awareness about emergency contraception, and provide compassionate assistance to rape victims.
Support for the (Homosexual Community)
"While we have come a long way since the Stonewall riots in 1969, we still have a lot of work to do. Too often, the issue of LGBT rights is exploited by those seeking to divide us. But at its core, this issue is about who we are as Americans. It's about whether this nation is going to live up to its founding promise of equality by treating all its citizens with dignity and respect."
-- Barack Obama, June 1, 2007

Expand Hate Crimes Statutes: In 2004, crimes against LGBT Americans constituted the third-highest category of hate crime reported and made up more than 15 percent of such crimes. President Obama cosponsored legislation that would expand federal jurisdiction to include violent hate crimes perpetrated because of race, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, or physical disability. As a state senator, President Obama passed tough legislation that made hate crimes and conspiracy to commit them against the law.
Fight Workplace Discrimination: President Obama supports the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, and believes that our anti-discrimination employment laws should be expanded to include sexual orientation and gender identity. While an increasing number of employers have extended benefits to their employees' domestic partners, discrimination based on sexual orientation in the workplace occurs with no federal legal remedy. The President also sponsored legislation in the Illinois State Senate that would ban employment discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.
Support Full Civil Unions and Federal Rights for LGBT Couples: President Obama supports full civil unions that give same-sex couples legal rights and privileges equal to those of married couples. Obama also believes we need to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act and enact legislation that would ensure that the 1,100+ federal legal rights and benefits currently provided on the basis of marital status are extended to same-sex couples in civil unions and other legally-recognized unions. These rights and benefits include the right to assist a loved one in times of emergency, the right to equal health insurance and other employment benefits, and property rights.
Oppose a Constitutional Ban on Same-Sex Marriage: President Obama voted against the Federal Marriage Amendment in 2006 which would have defined marriage as between a man and a woman and prevented judicial extension of marriage-like rights to same-sex or other unmarried couples.
Repeal Don't Ask-Don't Tell: President Obama agrees with former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff John Shalikashvili and other military experts that we need to repeal the "don't ask, don't tell" policy. The key test for military service should be patriotism, a sense of duty, and a willingness to serve. Discrimination should be prohibited. The U.S. government has spent millions of dollars replacing troops kicked out of the military because of their sexual orientation. Additionally, more than 300 language experts have been fired under this policy, including more than 50 who are fluent in Arabic. The President will work with military leaders to repeal the current policy and ensure it helps accomplish our national defense goals.
Expand Adoption Rights: President Obama believes that we must ensure adoption rights for all couples and individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation. He thinks that a child will benefit from a healthy and loving home, whether the parents are gay or not.
Promote AIDS Prevention: In the first year of his presidency, President Obama will develop and begin to implement a comprehensive national HIV/AIDS strategy that includes all federal agencies. The strategy will be designed to reduce HIV infections, increase access to care and reduce HIV-related health disparities. The President will support common sense approaches including age-appropriate sex education that includes information about contraception, combating infection within our prison population through education and contraception, and distributing contraceptives through our public health system. The President also supports lifting the federal ban on needle exchange, which could dramatically reduce rates of infection among drug users. President Obama has also been willing to confront the stigma -- too often tied to homophobia -- that continues to surround HIV/AIDS.
Empower Women to Prevent HIV/AIDS: In the United States, the percentage of women diagnosed with AIDS has quadrupled over the last 20 years. Today, women account for more than one quarter of all new HIV/AIDS diagnoses. President Obama introduced the Microbicide Development Act, which will accelerate the development of products that empower women in the battle against AIDS. Microbicides are a class of products currently under development that women apply topically to prevent transmission of HIV and other infections.

13 crazy lame things

Warning: I am sleepy and it's all I can do to hold my eyes open. But before I can go to sleep I must write this list. You know, so hopefully I can sleep better! Hang on to your seats, hats, and please leave all hands inside for the reminder of this post. (my lame attempt number 1 to be funny) LAUGH! By the way, I'm not reading over this to edit it right now. It is what it is! Deal with it! Please. See below for why this is important.

  1. I smell doughnuts. Not just any old doughnuts either. Krispy Kreme doughnuts. The kind that have the cream in the middle and the chocolate on the outside. I've smelt them for 2 days now. Don't know why. None in my house. Haven't had one. Maybe I need one you know to celebrate my lowest blood sugar reading! HA HA HA! LAUGH DANG IT!
  2. My DH is snoring at the moment. Most nights he is asleep way before I am. He gets up usually way before I do too. And sometimes I do get up with him, but I go back to bed and take a little nap.
  3. I've been working hard on a project for my boss at work. It involves Microsoft Publisher. I have to make almost 80 contact sheets for him. It's been taking me a good amount of my time the last few days. I'm still not done either! Got about 20 more to go. And then I get to start on another project! I love projects!
  4. I didn't do a DANG thing today except work on my work. Well, I did read a few blogs, ate breakfast, lunch and dinner. Oh and I did pay a bill online. Oh yeah, and I did feed the cat. And clean my bathroom. And get the mail. And talk on the phone. I didn't even cook-well unless you call microwave oatmeal cooking.
  5. Speaking of writing emails today. I'm grounded from work emails! I grounded myself. Cause I was rude today. Even my boss called me. Not to fuss at me. But to ask, what's going on! Cause see I CCed him on the last one I wrote...the one where I was rude. I told him, I'm tired of being messed with. He must not have seen my recent-Don't mess with me-post.
  6. My DH got a big surprise on Monday morning when he opened the shop doors. The lady that rents a chair from him went in and painted the WHOLE BARBER SHOP on Sunday! No, she didn't ask. No he does not like the colors. YES, she is still working there. For now.
  7. My 21 year old son hit a deer last week on the way home from his finance's house. Only a little damage to the front passenger side headlight. He was lucky. He went back to find the deer to see if it was hurt. He couldn't find it.
  8. I have still not forgotten about the giveaway for the blog makeovers! I know I need to post it, but dang it, I want to make it BIG so I keep putting it off! I WILL get to it! Devri, I haven't forgotten you either.
  9. My 25th wedding anniversary is coming up in a little over a week. I wanted to throw a HUGE celebration. That ain't happening. I wanted to go somewhere. That ain't gonna happen either. I wanted to get a new diamond platinum ring. That ain't gonna happen either. I wanted to have a NICE WEDDING CAKE! THAT SURELY IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! What will I do? Go to the Hilton to sleep, watch movies, and blog while my DH works. Sounds like a great 25th to me. Alone!
  10. I lost 2 more followers. Did you notice? I'm not crying over it-loudly. I want to do something when and IF I ever reach 100. I'm so close-but I was closer yesterday.
  11. It's humid here today and right now the humidity is 91%. At 1 AM. What is it summer time and no one told me?
  12. I'm so far behind in my google reader. Ever day I take a stab at it but I can't get it under 200! I'm trying, really I am! So, don't give up on me. And please for heaven's sake, don't leave me!
  13. I've got so many posts I want to post but don't have enough time to get them all done. If only I were funny.

There. I'm done. I'm out. My brain is fried. My eyes are shut. The End.

You're still here? Go, write me a comment. Mark the stars at the end of this post. Rate it.

Now would be a good time.

I'm really leaving.

CJ-OUT!

Things I learned this week-Week 1

My blog great designer is hosting a carnival today! This is my post for her carnival. Feel free to participate too! Just click on this link to take you to the post!

Things I learned last week:

  1. that I'm not up on the movies in the theaters. I haven't seen any of the 2009 Academy Award Nominees, yet. For that matter, I probably never will, either. I guess I'll never be able to recognize the stars from their roles in the movies.

  2. that eating more fiber lowers your blood sugar. Fiber is not my friend, by the way. I guess I'll be wearing depends before too long.

  3. that after 30 years of marriage, I still can't call my childhood friend by her married last name. After ordering a gift for her using her maiden last name and using the wrong house number, I had the nerve to fuss at UPS for not delivering it the day they were supposed to deliver it. It wasn't till I contacted my friend and asked if she got it the next day, did I find out I was using her maiden name! I guess I need to start memorizing it now.

  4. that using an old disposable razor for a man's beard to shave the long hairs on my legs is not a good idea; twelve cuts on the first run helped me realize this. I guess I'll have to have those nice European long hairs on my legs next time I run out of my razor blades.

  5. that posting pictures and things of what I thought was funny about our newly elected President, could cause you to loose one or more of your followers. I guess I'll just have to keep posting the things I think are funny.

And while this list is not a complete list of the things I learned last week, I think it's enough to embarrass me for one post reading.

the window through which we look

A young couple moved into a new neighborhood
The next morning while they were eating breakfast,
The young woman saw her neighbor hanging the wash outside.

'That laundry is not very clean,' she said.
'She doesn't know how to wash correctly.
Perhaps she needs better laundry soap.'

Her husband looked on, but remained silent.

Every time her neighbor would hang her wash to dry,
The young woman would make the same comments.

About one month later, the woman was surprised to see a
Nice clean wash on the line and said to her husband:

'Look, she has learned how to wash correctly.
I wonder who taught her this.'

The husband said, 'I got up early this morning and
Cleaned our windows.'

And so it is with life. What we see when watching others
Depends on the purity of the window through which we look.

I hope that you have a very blessed day!

The Nun and the weight machine

THE NUN AND A WEIGHT MACHINE

A NUN WAS SITTING AT THE AIRPORT, WAITING ON HER FLIGHT TO CHICAGO . SHE LOOKED OVER IN THE CORNER AND SAW ONE OF THOSE WEIGHT MACHINES THAT TELLS YOUR FORTUNE, AND THOUGHT TO HERSELF, 'I'LL GIVE IT A TRY AND SEE WHAT IT TELLS ME.'

SHE WENT OVER TO THE MACHINE, STEPPED UP ON THE SCALE AND PUT HER NICKEL IN, AND OUT CAME A CARD THAT READ, 'YOU ARE A NUN, YOU WEIGH 128 LBS AND YOU ARE GOING TO CHICAGO.'

THE NUN SAT BACK DOWN. SHE TOLD HERSELF THAT THE MACHINE PROBABLY GIVES THE SAME CARD TO EVERYONE. THE MORE SHE THOUGHT ABOUT IT, THE MORE CURIOUS SHE GOT, SO SHE DECIDED TO TRY IT AGAIN.

SHE WENT BACK TO THE MACHINE AND AGAIN PUT HER NICKEL IN, AND OUT CAME A CARD THAT READ, 'YOU ARE A NUN, YOU WEIGH
128 LBS, YOU ARE GOING TO CHICAGO AND YO! U ARE G OING TO PLAY A FIDDLE.'

THE NUN SAID TO HERSELF, 'I KNOW THAT IS WRONG, I HAVE NEVER PLAYED A MUSICAL INSTRUMENT A DAY IN MY LIFE.' SHE SAT BACK DOWN. FROM OUT OF NOWHERE A COWBOY CAME OVER AND SAT DOWN, PUTTING HIS FIDDLE CASE IN THE SEAT BETWEEN THEM.

WITHOUT THINKING, SHE OPENED THE COWBOY'S CASE, TOOK OUT THE FIDDLE, AND STARTED PLAYING BEAUTIFUL MUSIC.

SURPRISED AT WHAT SHE HAD DONE, SHE LOOKED OVER AT THE MACHINE, THINKING, 'THIS IS INCREDIBLE, I'VE GOT TO TRY THIS AGAIN.' BACK TO THE MACHINE SHE WENT, PUT IN ANOTHER NICKEL, AND ANOTHER CARD CAME OUT.

IT READ, 'YOU ARE A NUN, YOU WEIGH 128 LBS, YOU ARE GOING TO CHICAGO AND YOU ARE GOING TO BREAK WIND.' NOW SHE KNEW THE MACHINE WAS WRONG.

AS SHE THOUGHT TO HER SELF, 'I'VE NEVER BROKEN WIND IN PUBLIC A SINGLE TIME IN MY LIFE,' BUT GETTING DOWN OFF THE MACHINE SHE SLIPPED, AND AS SHE WAS STRAINING TO KEEP HERSELF FROM FALLING ON THE FLOOR, SHE BROKE WIND.

ABSOLUTELY STUNNED, SHE SAT BACK DOWN AND LOOKED AT THE MACHINE. SHE SAID TO HERSELF, 'THIS IS TRULY REMARKABLE! I HAVE GOT TO TRY THIS AGAIN.'

SHE WENT BACK TO THE MACHINE, PUT IN ANOTHER NICKEL, AND ANOTHER CARD CAME OUT. IT READ, 'YOU ARE A NUN, YOU WEIGH 128 LBS, YOU HAVE FIDDLED AND FARTED AROUND AND MISSED YOUR FLIGHT TO CHICAGO .'

Don't have a title for this...so let's call it...something!

I'm not sure where my mind will wonder today with this post. This is not one of those things that I've thought about long and hard before coming to my blog to write. So beware, you don't know where my mind will travel.

I want this to be a 13 Thursday since I haven't done one of those for a while, so now, in no random order, I am now going to post 13 things.

Hang on.

  1. Thanks for those of you who commented to my pity party post about followers. My mind was at a low the other night when I posted that. And I would link ya to it, but I don't want to further embarrass myself with that pity party. But I love ya for helping me get off the pot! And I got a new follower that day so it made up for the TWO I lost that day. Hi MELINDERS! And while I'm on that subject, my rules at the top of the page say, BE NICE OR LEAVE-so I guess I invited them to leave. Maybe they couldn't be nice?
  2. Wow, I can't think of a number two. I would like to have a lead in to this number two, but I don't. My mind just completely went blank on a thought.
  3. Okay, let's try this one. It's been so dang cold here. Me, COLD? YEAH. Last night I had the heat in my house to a whopping 68! I know, can you believe that? And want to know something else? Sure you do. Right now I am sitting in my bed with my husband's heating blanket on me. And it feels DANG good! Did you just pass out, twin?
  4. I turned off the lights and TRIED to go to sleep last night at 12:15 last night. Did you see the word TRY? Yeah, how about my DH was NOT sleepy last night and had a hard time going to sleep so he kept getting up and down till about 1 AM. I did not say to him after his 4th time of getting up in 30 minutes, if you can not go to sleep GO TO THE GUEST ROOM. YOU ARE KEEPING ME AWAKE! I would never tell him to leave our bed for keeping me awake!
  5. I've got to work today. It's such a hard life! I haven't been to the office in two weeks! Yes, you heard me! But remember, my grand babies have been sick, and I've had to adjust to being diabetic. Remember all of that? Yeah, so I've got to make it there today! My boss called me yesterday almost begging me to come to work today! And here I sit typing this post! I'm waiting for it to warm up a little. It's a balmy 24 outside right now. Somewhere there's a weather lady by the name of Amy Freeze that says it can get too cold outside. (Thanks Lisa!) So, I'm sticking with her!
  6. Oh, I know what I want to tell you, I've got a BIG announcement to make about the blog makeovers! I MEAN it's HUGE! (Say it like Donald Trump) HUGE! I need to get that post done, but I want to make it BIG. So stay tuned for that one. It's coming soon!
  7. I've been reading lots of blogs that I haven't left comments on in a while. I'm sorry people. Really I am. I do still ♥ ya and want you to keep coming back! Sometimes, I just don't get to say something but I do read. I don't know if you know I am there because I read through Google Reader, but I am there. Just say to yourself, the Purple Diva was here!
  8. Wow, I'm lost again on this one. I want to say my eyes are watering like crazy. They have been since last night. Wonder if I'm tired?
  9. I went to the doctor yesterday. I was there 2 hours. At one point I yelled to the receptionist from across the room, "What's going on Miss Linda"? (meaning I had gotten there at 2:25 for my appointment at 2:30 and it was now almost 3!) There was only one other lady sitting in the waiting room. I was like, you people need to get your act together.i didn't say that, but I sure thought it!
  10. So, while I was there they weighed me. People I lost 6 pounds and 12 OUNCES in two weeks! Girlfriend, I want those 12 ounces! And I'm sure I'm holding water weight right now too! And the doctor told me last time I was there that I'd gain weight! Not me!
  11. She, the doctor was happy with my weight loss and my blood sugars. She said going from 339 two weeks ago to nothing over 200 and I even had some 120's, that she was excited! She said to me, you know what you're doing! Yeah, I do!
  12. Okay, so now I'm getting hungry. I haven't had breakfast yet, taken my medicine, or checked my sugar. (My twin just flipped out.)
  13. Wow, I made it to 13! YAHOO! Did you make it to 13 with me or did I loose you at number 1?

Have a good day!

Wonder if Amy thinks it's warm enough to go outside yet?
